Marmaduke Pickthall

Marmaduke Pickthall (1875-1936) was an English novelist, journalist and traveller, later celebrated for his translation The Meaning of the Glorious Koran (1930). Born in London, he travelled extensively in the Near East as a young man and converted to Islam in 1917. His fiction and memoirs drew on a deep sympathy for Arab and Ottoman life.
