Thomas Mann

Thomas Mann (1875-1955) was a German novelist and Nobel laureate (1929), author of Buddenbrooks, The Magic Mountain and Death in Venice. Born in Lubeck, he went into exile after 1933 in opposition to Nazism. Royal Highness (1909), his second novel, is a gently ironic romance set in a minor German principality.
